HBO has never failed to surprise us with their series, and they are well-aware that the Game of Thrones is coming to an end. That is why they need another high profile show that will gather the fans across the globe, and that show is Westworld. The first season ended and we are expecting big things in the new, second season of this sci-fi western.

Westworld Season 2 Release Date

The first season was successful, so HBO renewed the show for ten more episodes in November last year. Casey Bloys, the programming president, said this on the topic to Entertainment Weekly: “My suspicion is sometime in 2018 because of how big the world is and what goes into shooting it. So I don’t have a date exactly — they’re going to have to map it out and write the scripts — but my guess is sometime in ’18.”

Luke Hemsworth, who is in the role of park security head Stubbs told Independent: “They don’t want to go in doing what they were doing last time, where they were under the cosh the whole time. They want to go in with a clear plan – A to Z and everything in between.”

Filming

Ed Harris told us earlier that the filming of the second season should start in summer 2017. However, he turned out to be wrong, and Fox 13 reported that the shooting should kick off in October, in Utah. This was confirmed by the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development.

Plot – Season2 of Westworld

So, what the new Season of Westworld brings? The co-creator and executive producer Jonathan Nolan posted a photo which partially reveals the name of the first episode of the new season. It says: “Journey into N…” We don’t know what this “N” means but we are excited. What we remember is that the first season ended in such a dramatic fashion and Dr. Ford’s gruesome departure from the series left us slightly confused. Nolan also revealed: “If the first season was defined by control, the second season is defined by chaos.”

He added: “Ford has set in motion what he thinks is a plan. The nature of that plan is something we explore in the second season – what his intentions are. Are they to let Dolores or the other Hosts escape? Are they simply to teach the human guests a lesson?”

The other parks will be shown in the new season, and we even caught the one of a Samurai-themed alternative to Westworld at the end of the first season. In the original book written by Michael Crichton, there are a Roman World and Medieval World alongside West World, but Nolan confirmed that neither of these would be displayed in the season two. This doesn’t mean that we won’t see these worlds later on, but for now, more of Samurai World is expected.

Nolan told Hollywood Reporter: “We will ultimately encounter other worlds. Just when and where remains to be seen”. His wife Lisa Joy who is also a co-creator and writer stated: “It’s wonderful to work with actors we haven’t worked with before. This allows us a lot of access to Asian actors and the Asian community”.

Season 2 Cast

Anthony Hopkins who plays Dr. Ford departed from the show in an amazing fashion in the season finale, making the great host revolt possible. This means that we won’t see Hopkins in the season two, right? Possibly, because there are some theories which indicate that Ford was making a host version of himself in his secret lab. Hopkins spoke about his return to The Mirror: “Nobody knows anything. I don’t know anything. I cannot give any answers as I don’t know.”

On the other hand, Elsie, Shannon Woodward may return, and the official site suggests that she might still be in play. Could this be true? Meanwhile, Ed Harris told BBC Radio 4: “I was just talking to Jonah Nolan last night, who’s a creator of this thing [Westworld] with his wife Lisa Joy, and yeah, they’re doing another season. They’re going to do ten more episodes, and I will be involved.”

According to Jimmi Simpson, who plays a younger version of the MIB, it is “unclear” whether he will return or not. His departure has been confirmed but he had an interesting statement: “I wouldn’t be surprised if William showed up for Season 3 or something.” We know for a fact that Thandie Newton’s Meave will return and so will Dolores.

At this point, there are no official trailers, but follow us for more details about Westworld.
