Insomniac Games, creator of Resistance, Sly Cooper and Ratchet and Clank is the name that stands behind this title that was so little known until now. Thanks to this year’s E3 event we found out that it will include PS4 Pro support and that it is going to be launched in 2018.

Thanks to the new gameplay trailer that came right after the E3 2017 we found a thing or two about the game as well as its release date. Although it is not that precise, it at least reveals us that it will be sometime in 2018. We can imagine that the fans of the game are slightly disappointed by this release date since Ryan Penagos, vice president and executive editor of Marvel Digital Media, stated via Reddit “There’s even more on the horizon for 2017 like Spider-Man coming to PlayStation 4 and Marvel vs Capcom Infinite coming to Xbox One, PS4, and PC”

Well, a year of wait is not much when you find out what you are waiting for and that it is coming out together with titles like Red Dead Redemption 2, Call of Duty WW2, Middle Earth: Shadow of War and Star Wars Battlefront 2. To give you an idea of how the game exactly looks and feels here is the 9 minute-long gameplay trailer that previews the combat, stealth, and web-slinging. Check it out below.

In this great clip, you could see the various types of mechanics that expect us all when the game launches, as well as something surprising. You could see Miles Morales who is the current Spider-Man in the comics, showed up at the end of the clip, which instantly brought up the alarm in our heads. Could he be the Spidey in the game?! Those of you who have followed up on the game could as well see another, shorter though, trailer for Spider-Man PS4, which was shown off at Sony’s E3 2016 press conference, and we have it right down below (for those who haven’t watched it).

One of the questions that raise up with these type of games is will this title be related to the Spider-Man movies? Well, it will not. The Spider-Man PS4 game is a standalone release with its own unique story and does not reflect any of the events from the films. As much as we could see from the extended gameplay trailer, you will once more have the opportunity to swing from rooftops and be able to explore all of New York City. There is another thing added to the game, and it is the ability to web-swing and run through shops and bars as you chase the bad guys. What looks even more awesome is the ability of Spidey to chase down bad guys in cars and apprehend them in webs as well as take on bank robbers. This all is really exciting and looking good especially the part with parkour controls that appear to be free-flowing, or at least as far as the trailer allows us to see.
