On a recent episode of Chris Jericho’s podcast “Talk is Jericho” Roman Reigns was his guest, and they talked about The Shield and how it all started with Seth Rollins, Deam Ambrose and himself in one of the best WWE factions of all time. According to the Big Dog, The Shield was originally CM Punk’s idea for a team that is going to be his security. He did admit that he was not one of the guys that Punk had for his team.

“It could be a little off, but apparently I guess it was Punk’s idea to have security or whatever. And he had a group of guys, I believe were in there, but I wasn’t one of those guys. No, I was picked by Triple H and Vince, of course.”

While taking to Jericho, Roman did talk about the FCW and his days in the developmental brand. He didn’t stay long in the NXT and he was really happy about that.

“Seth was the top guy the whole time in FCW. He was the man and I was just kind of learning.” Roman said. “I’m glad I didn’t sit down there or stay in NXT and move to Orlando Florida because the best way to learn is out there.”

It is understandable that Seth Rollins was the go-to guy when these guys were in the developmental. Rollins was the one that was on the indy scene for a long time, he was a much better wrestler at the time. Since then, Roman has come a long way as far as his in-ring work is concerned. Reigns also mentioned that he thought that the shield was broken up a bit too soon and that they should have had a longer babyface run.
