Red Dead Redemption 2 – Everything We Know

Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most exciting titles that will be released this year, and everyone is looking for details about this epic game. Rockstar decided to keep most of the information to itself, such as gameplay and content of the sequel. Ever since the Red Dead Redemption was introduced in 2010, Rockstar and Take-Two have been quiet about the second installment which has been in development, but now the game will finally arrive. Take a look at everything we know about the Red Dead Redemption 2.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Release Date

Red Dead Redemption 2 will be launched this fall, but the exact date is unknown. However, we expect that Rockstar will officially announce the release date in the next few months, so follow us for more details. The first Red Dead Redemption was unveiled in May, but this one will follow GTA V’s footstep, so September is our guess.

Platforms

Rockstar officially announced that the sequel would come to the PS4 and the Xbox One. The PC version may not be offered at the same time as the home consoles release and those who plan to play it on the PC may end up waiting for another year. The gamers hope that Rockstar will offer support for the PS4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio, but that remains unknown.

Major Characters

The developer has really tried not to unveil anything about the Red Dead Redemption 2. We don’t know who the characters will be, so the possibility is that the gamers will change between several protagonists. New game will probably allow players to go on an adventure as multiple characters from different backgrounds and nationalities. So far, we have only had a chance to see seven silhouettes of gunmen against a red background.

Red Dead Redemption 2 – The Story

No specific details have been given, except that the story will take place out west on the American frontier. According to the rumors, the player will lead a gang through the Wild West, while the time when the story is set is during the American Civil War. There is a good chance that the main character is a villain who hunts down ex-gang members or seeks revenge.

Era and Setting

Looking at the trailer, we are 99 percent sure that the story will be set in the American Midwest. In the trailer, there are a lot of empty fields, dirt trails, but also a lot of forests, mountains, so some of the states such as Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas are possible places. Speaking of the time, the story is set before 1915, as we can see trains, horses, and carriages, but the Rockstar has been quiet about this just like about everything else.

Trailer of Red Dead Redemption 2

When Rockstar released the trailer on the official YouTube channel, the analyses immediately ensued. What we see in the trailer is an amazing ecosystem with a variety of wildlife, the returning day and night cycle and a vast world the players will have a chance to explore and be a part of. Seeing boats in the trailer implies that swimming could be possible, an aspect which lacked in the original Red Dead Redemption.

Game Engine

The technology that powers new title remains unfamiliar, but they will probably stick with NaturalMotion’s Morpheme and Euphoria engines that will give characters natural motions whatever they do. The physical based rendering is installed in the game series, as we can see the orange glow on the surrounding area because of the light from the campfire. This means that the players will explore dark areas or caves with torch lights.

Hunting and Wildlife

In the original Red Dead Redemption, hunting animals was a huge part of the game. Based on the trailer, this will continue to play a big role in Red Dead Redemption 2 and the players will be able to bring their pray to towns. It is a possibility that hunting will be used as a survival technique and not just to earn money by selling hides or craft material.

Multiplayer

The multiplayer component will definitely be present when it comes to the Red Dead Redemption 2, but some people believe that it will be similar to the multiplayer from the first part, whereas some would like to see the GTA IV type of multiplayer. Considering the success of the GTA V, the multiplayer of the new western game might be similar to it.

Weapons @ Red Dead Redemption 2

We don’t know what your arsenal of weapons will be in the game, but we have some hints in the trailer. At the end of the trailers, the gang of riders appears, and we can see some of them with the revolvers. Furthermore, the long range rifles will most likely return to the Red Dead Redemption 2. We also see a man holding a shotgun while he picks at a carcass and when a farmer walks his haul back to the range, there is a long range hunting rifle as well. These are just some of the many that will be available in the new game, and they nicely fit the period in which the story will be set.

Customization

In the previous installment, players were able to customize John Marston and give him a variety of outfits, guns and some other goodies. It is possible that the new game will have a similar customization mechanic like GTA online. Personalized custom horses and personalized custom weapons are a possibility as well, and this aspect of the game will most definitely reach another level.
