Jumanji is a 1995’s movie based on Chris Van Allsburg’s children’s book published in 1985. The book tells a story of a magic board game which releases jungle plants and creatures that then need to be dealt with. It is set in a quiet American suburb. The original movie, directed by Joe Johnston, had the late Robin Williams in the lead role of Alan Parrish, the one who gets trapped in the board game. The rest of the cast crew included Jonathan Hyde as Sam Parrish, Kristen Dunst as Judy Shepherd, Bradley Pierce as Peter Shepherd, etc.

This movie inspired Jake Kasdan to plan the sequel, which was not that well received at first, especially because of Robin Williams, for the film, was announced only a year after his death. However, the project was not canceled. The screenplay is written by Scott Rosenberg, known for “Con Air” and “High Fidelity,” while Mike Weber and Van Allsburg are the executive producers. The sequel will star Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart and Jack Black, who are said to play the “avatars” of the kids in the upcoming adventure, together with Morgan Turner, Madison Iseman, Alex Wolff and others.

Jumanji Release Date

“Jumanji” was first set to air on July 28, 2017, but then the release date was shifted to December 22, 2017, thus following the premiere of “Star Wars: Episode VIII,” which is scheduled just one week earlier.

As we already mentioned, Dwayne Johnson takes on one of the lead roles in the movie, that of Dr. Smolder Bravestone. The famous actor has recently talked about “Jumanji, ” and he confirmed that it would be a sequel and not a remake of the original. But that’s not all. He has also decided to share some of the photos with loyal fans, and we can see several fight photos from the movie on his Facebook and Instagram.
