Created by Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris for Netflix, Grace and Frankie was first released in May 2015, but the time has come to talk about the fourth season already. For those of you who missed the beginning, the series follows the lives of the two title characters ever since the moment their husbands told them that they want to divorce them in order to be able to marry each other.

Each of the three seasons released so far comprises 13 episodes. The last one, delivered in March this year, brought some rather exciting turns of events during its 13 episodes. First of all, we saw Grace and Frankie start their unusual business and fight against ageism along the way. Then, we met the handsome owner of a multinational company Nick with whom Grace is supposed to go on a date. We didn’t get to know much about their relationship, fortunately for us, that means that there might be material for a Season 4 romance. Furthermore, Frankie’s boyfriend Jacob asked her to move with him to Santa Fe, New Mexico, which affected her friendship with Grace. Finally, we saw Frankie recover from a minor stroke. After that, she decides to stay in San Diego with her family, but Grace still advises her to follow her heart.

The upcoming sequel of the story will reveal whether or not Frankie eventually listened to Grace’s friendly advice. It will also show us how Mallory handles her role of a single mother, but we’ll also meet another mother-to-be, as it is revealed at the end of Season 3 that Budd’s girlfriend Allison is pregnant. Finally, we will get to see what happens with Brianna and Barry, after she decides she is ready to give their relationship another try.

Grace and Frankie Season 4 Release Date

When it comes to the release date, it’s still too early to tell when exactly we can expect to see the new episodes, as it was only in April this year that Netflix announced that they would renew the series for Season 4. The important thing is that the crew is more than eager to work on a new batch of episodes. Lily Tomlin, who plays Frankie, expressed her enthusiasm saying: “Considering our age, I think we should convince Ted [Sarandos, Netflix boss] to do two seasons a year.” On top of that, Jane Fonda (Grace) said: “I wish that they could sparse them out more, so we didn’t have to wait so long.”

Grace and Frankie Cast

Speaking of the Grace and Frankie crew, let us remind you who played the main roles so far. Besides Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda we have Martin Sheen portraying Grace’s ex-husband Robert, Sam Waterston as Frankie’s ex Sol, June Diane Raphael as Brianna, Brooklyn Decker as Mallory, Ethan Embry as Coyote, Baron Vaughn as Bud, and, last but not least, we saw Ernie Hudson play Frankie’s boyfriend Jacob. Bearing in mind how successful they all have been in their roles so far, we can only hope all of them will reprise those parts in the new season. Stay tuned for more news.
