Fast and Furious Spin-Off Will Star Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham

It has recently been announced that the Fast and Furious team decided to expand the highly popular franchise into The Fast and The Furious spin-off movie. And now there’s more. Universal is reportedly going to deliver a film which will focus primarily on two characters played by two famous actors, Dwayne The Rock Johnson and Jason Statham.

The upcoming title will continue to depict the union between these two characters, federal agent Luke Hobbs (played by Dwayne Johnson) and Deckard Shaw (played by Jason Statham). As you probably remember, in Fast and Furious 7 Deckard Shaw was one of the villains, but, much to everyone’s astonishment, he turned to be Hobbs’s ally in The Fate of the Furious, so the spin-off movie will center on this unusual relationship and perhaps solve the mystery behind it.

The spin-off is still only in early stages of development. If we take into account Johnson’s highly busy schedule, we can’t help, but wonder, when will he ever have time to work on this project? He already has enough on his plate, since he is currently working on around dozen other projects. Some of these include a Big Trouble in Little China reboot, the sequel to 2015’s San Andreas, a newly confirmed Black Adam movie, as well as the film that will center on pulp fiction hero Doc Savage. So, in case you are wondering when exactly we can expect to see the spin-off, it’s still too early to tell. However, we do know that, according to Deadline, it will definitely see the light of day prior to Fast and Furious ninth installment.

According to the Wrap, we could have learned about Hobbs and Shaw’s alliance much earlier if there hadn’t been for Vin Diesel, who wanted the showrunners to remove the scene that was supposed to hint their adventures together.

For the time being, this is all we know about the upcoming spin-off, but we promise we’ll keep you updated. Follow us for more details.
