Fast and Furious Movie Franchise – What’s Left?

The Fate of the Furious set the record for the highest-grossing opening of all time and the movie has earned $1,215 billion so far. The Furious 7 is the record-holder with $1.516 billion which certainly means that Universal Pictures will keep working on the Fast and Furious franchise.

Money is not the only motivation, though and The Fate of The Furious is just a first film in this trilogy. So this means that at least two more sequels will be on the silver screen, plus the studio has already announced a spin-off. Let’s hear what to expect from all these future titles.

Fast and Furious 9

At the end of The Fate of The Furious, the gang was together on a New York rooftop, and they decided to let bygones be bygones. However, Charlize Theron’s Cipher is still on the loose, and we will probably see Dom avenge Elsa Pataky’s Elena. Furthermore, Chris Morgan and Neal Moritz have confirmed that Sung Kang will return in this installment which means that Han Lue may be alive. In addition, the other cast members have also announced that they are back and this will be an interesting sequel which will be released on April 19, 2019.

Fast and Furious 10

It is too early to talk about the ninth film, and we already know that the 10th movie will be made eventually. However, we cannot tell what it will be about, so we will speculate. What we know is that this part will need to top the previous two which will be difficult. Dominic Toretto will struggle between his former way of life and fatherhood, and he will need to find that balance. However, his son Brian Toretto can remain an infant, or the producers can move a few years into the future and make him a teen who will run around with his ol’ man. Brian O’Conner will not be seen again since watching someone in place of Paul Walker would be weird. Fast and Furious 10 will be the end of a franchise, and it will be premiered on April 2, 2024.

Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw Spin-Off

Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham will play lead roles in this spin-off and Vin Diesel, who was thrilled about two more Fast and Furious movies, was quiet about this one, which is understandable. It will be interesting to watch Hobbs and Shaw’s background and even though this is a spin-off, it will be a potential blockbuster. The release date is unknown, but April 2024 seems alright.
