Facebook Stories Now above the News Feed

We all know that Snapchat was the first one to introduce Stories, the feature which enables you to post some photos or videos in a slideshow which can be seen only for 24 hours from the moment you upload them. Then, this feature became available on Instagram, as well. And now, Facebook has its own version of Snapchat Stories which appears right above the News Feed, so you just have to see it whenever you check your Facebook home page. Facebook Stories are now available in such manner in Ireland on iOS and Android, but it is expected that it will also appear in other countries soon.

Some of you might find it unnecessary to introduce this feature when Facebook already has Messenger’s new camera, a selfie mask-filled camera feature, as well as Instagram Stories. This is how the company explained it: “Facebook has long been the place to share with friends and family, but the way that people share is changing in significant ways. The way people share today is different to five or even two years ago — it’s much more visual, with more photos and videos than ever before. We want to make it fast and fun for people to share creative and expressive photos and videos with whoever they want, whenever they want.”

This is not the first time Facebook has introduced a Snapchat clone, but, until now, these copycats were placed in separate apps, like Poke and Slingshot, or they were simply somewhere behind the News Feed (e.g. the revamped camera). However, Facebook Stories are far from being buried behind the News Feed. This time, the new feature will be displayed in such manner that you cannot miss it.

When Stories appeared on Instagram, the number of daily users rose to 150 million in just five months. For this reason, it is believed that this feature will be at least as successful on Facebook, too. We’ll probably have the opportunity to try it out ourselves in not so distant future.
