Dwayne Johnson’s Plans for WrestleMania 33

Having come back to WWE five years ago, Dwayne Johnson has taken part in all WrestleMania events so far. Even when he wasn’t actually wrestling, he was doing a promo. Anyway, he was there for the WWE’s most important event of the year.

Lately, the main reason for Johnson not participating in WrestleMania matches have been the insurance issues he had to deal with. As we all know, The Rock has worked on various movie projects lately, so the movie studios didn’t want to risk him suffering a severe injury during a match, which would inevitably affect their project’s development.

They thought about this possibility in advance for a reason. When Johnson was working on “Hercules” (released in 2014), he decided to enter the ring at WrestleMania 29, and he left it with a torn adductor muscle and a hernia after his match with John Cena. This, of course, delayed significantly the movie in which he took on the lead role. In addition to this, because of that unfortunate event, WWE had to make changes for WrestleMania 30, which was originally supposed to see a match between Brock Lesnar and Johnson.

At WrestleMania 32, The Rock did wrestle, but his match with Erick Rowan lasted less than ten seconds. Thus, there was actually no risk of being injured at all.

For the time being, we can say that Johnson will not miss WrestleMania 33, but what remains to be revealed is what exactly his role will be this time. According to WrestleTalk TV, this is the question that has caused some kind of disagreement between the famous movie star and Vince McMahon.

The Rock would like to make an appearance in such a way that he can also use the opportunity to draw attention to the new Fast and Furious movie, which is scheduled to hit theaters two weeks after the big WWE’s event. Furthermore, it has been reported that he would like to involve Vin Diesel in the upcoming event as well, as he also stars in “Fast and Furious 8”. However, Vince McMahon seems to have other plans. These, as you may guess, involve Johnson actually wrestling, but he is not that interested in doing so, at least for now.

What remains for us to do is wait to see what kind of compromise McMahon and Johnson will reach. Until then, follow us for new information.
