According to visual effects artist Jake Morrison, who worked on Thor: Ragnarok and The Avengers, new Dwayne Johnson’s film named Jungle Cruise is going to have the same feel to it as Pirates of the Caribbean. The leader of the effects crew for the new movie is J.D. Schwalm, whereas the director will be Jaume Collet-Serra known for the film called The Shallows.

Jungle Cruise will focus on the Disney park attractions as the fans will go through the simulated journey down the exotic world rivers and encounter some amazing and scary animals along the way. Interestingly enough, the film will take place in the 1920s when people had no GPS, satellite phones and some other things which could bring them to safety.

Glenn Ficarra and John Requa are working on the scripts, and Jake Morrison confirmed that the vibe of the film would be similar to the one in Pirates of the Caribbean. Morrison told Screen Rant: “When I read the script, it’s a bit like how I felt when I first watched the first Pirates of the Caribbean. It’s got that kind of really fun, really cool, you know Mr. Dwayne Johnson’s going to deliver the goods – he’s reliably charismatic, and we’re going to be doing a lot of practical stuff. It’s really exciting.”

Initially, Disney wanted to adjust the Pirates of the Caribbean into a movie franchise, but many people were skeptic saying that it couldn’t work. However, the company earned billions worldwide and Jack Sparrow played by Johnny Depp became an iconic character. Now, Disney needs something fresh, plus they know the winning formula. Jungle Cruise is going to be a success with Dwayne Johnson leading the way.

There is still a long way before this movie comes to theaters, whereas The Rock has nine announced projects with one of them being Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle which premieres by the end of the year.
