Everyone loves Dwayne The Rock Johnson, and he has many fans across the world who follow everything he does. At the moment, the highest paid actor in Hollywood is working on numerous reboots, and one of them is Baywatch, based on the classic TV series which made David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson worldwide famous.
Dwayne is proud of this movie, but the critics are not so thrilled. Most of them called it a “missed opportunity,” “dumb” and even used words like “obscenity.” The popular Hollywood superstar will not put up with this. He used Twitter to announce that the Baywatch has arrived in theaters and he wrote this: “Officially opening TODAY is our lil’ rated R beach movie #Baywatch! Extremely high scores from the fans which is always the best part!”
However, after that, he wrote two additional tweets concerning the critics who rated this movie pretty bad. This is what he tweeted: “Yay positive upticks. Fans LOVE the movie. Critics HATE it. What a glaring disconnect. People just want to laugh & have fun. #Baywatch”
And this: “Oh boy, critics had their venom & knives ready. Fans LOVE the movie. Huge positive scores. Big disconnect w/ critics & people. #Baywatch”
However, Johnson praised Dewey Singleton who wrote a positive reaction, and according to The Rock, the critics laughed during the movie, but after that, they deliberately trashed it in public. He went on to defend the film and said that the people were literally peeing themselves from laughter in theaters “all across the country.” After all, this movie is for audiences and fans.
Is this going to ruin the reputation Johnson has been building for years? Not at all, because even Baywatch has received poor criticism, it will earn him a lot of money. Plus, Dwayne works on tons of projects, so we will watch him soon in another blockbuster. Even though he defends Baywatch, he definitely is slightly disappointed that the critics gave it bad reviews.
