Why Don’t Cowboys Sign Colin Kaepernick?

Last year, the Dallas Cowboys had the best one-two punch in the league when it comes to quarterbacks. If something were to happen to Dak Prescott, they could sleep at night knowing that they had Tony Romo ready to go. Pro-bowl caliber QB as your backup is always a great thing to have, but it happens rarely, and it doesn’t last long.

Romo has now left the game of football, and the Dallas Cowboys don’t have the luxury that they had last year. But, they could get it back if they make a move that nobody expects them to make. Colin Kaepernick is still on the market and ready to sign with the squad that wants him. He clearly has the skill to be the starting QB for at least the third of the teams if not even more, but his kneeling during the National Anthem has probably caused this stand-off by the team towards him.

The Dallas Cowboys won only one game of the 15 games when they were without Romo before Dak took over. They clearly never had good backups at the QB position, and they need to make sure that it doesn’t happen again. Colin Kaepernick has a pretty similar skill set to Dak Prescott. Not many teams are fighting for him right now so that means that he can come to them on a cheap deal not taking a big portion of the cap space.

Jerry Jones likes the headlines, and this move would achieve that the Dallas Cowboys end up just where he always wanted them to be. Everybody would be talking about this franchise now even though we are just less than two months away from the start of the training camps. Cowboys really don’t have to lose much here so they should pull the trigger on Kaep.
