The Apple will reveal their flagship iPhone 8 this year, and as we are sailing through 2017, more and more rumors constantly appear. There was a lot of hype before the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were introduced in September 2016 and ever since their launch, the flagship devices have received a lot of negative comments because of outdated technology and several other issues. The question arises here whether Apple can live up to the expectations with a new gadget?

Performance

The iPhone 8 will come with the new A11 processor from Apple, which will be marketed as the A11 Fuson, states The Motley Fool. Company’s new processor was developed by the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) last year, but since the iPhone 7 didn’t receive it in time, we expect to see it in the iPhone 8. According to the TSMC, the new processor will increase the performance by 20% and improve the battery life by 40%.

It is possible that the iPhone 8 will feature a 6-core GPU, just like its predecessor, but this has yet to be confirmed. In addition, we are still short on the info about the amount of RAM for the new smartphone, but let’s see what we know about the current device. The iPhone 7 comes with 2GB, while the Plus has 3GB, which is not satisfactory compared to the Galaxy S7 that brings 4GB. This is the reason why Apple might produce an iPhone that will have at least 4GB of RAM. The Apple iPhone 8 is supposed to be equipped with significantly upgraded wireless charging in order to go against Samsung phones.

Apple iPhone 8 Display and Camera

DigiTimes reports that the new flagship phone should come with OLED panels, which is an improvement compared to the iPhone 7’s LED display. Namely, these OLED displays will be the same as the ones the South Korean company uses since they will be supplied from Samsung Display. The Galaxy S7 has a 5.5-inch screen with 1440×2560 pixels, implying that similar specs could come for the iPhone 8.

Apple will develop the camera for their new device together with LG Innotek, as TechRadar India states. Recently the Cupertino-based tech giant has acquired an Israeli startup, LinX, which specializes in 3D images and we cannot say how good the iPhone 8’s camera is going to be, but expect to be positively surprised.

Design and Other Characteristics

Instead of the aluminum backing, Apple will finally introduce a stainless steel frame with dual panes of reinforced glass, says DigiTimes. The new chassis will increase the strength of the product and allegedly reduce the price. The company has filed a design patent which is a display with holes in it that supports Augmented Reality apps, but we are not sure whether the Apple iPhone 8 will feature this. According to some other rumors, the new device will be equipped with a bezel-less design with curved edges, which means a bigger size of the screen.

The iPhone 8 will supposedly come with iris-scanning technology and IP68-certified water resistance. This means that you can put the device into the 1.5-meter-deep water for half an hour without damaging it.
