As the times and preferences have changed, we now have a situation where crossover SUVs are the new wagons, but that is OK. The Volvo’s wagon-like SUVs are a sure proof of that with a great success they have been having lately. The company’s crossover’s and actual wagon models amounted to almost half of the company sales in recent years, which is remarkable, especially when you consider the competition they are up against.

The most popular model from their lineup is, of course, the XC60, and that is with the fact that it is now almost a decade old. To fix that slight “problem” Volvo announced that they will introduce a redesigned XC60 for the 2018 model year. Its first appearance was at 2017 Geneva Auto Show just last month, and it should make its US debut on the next week’s 2017 New York Auto Show.

Just before the US introduction, Volvo announced some changes that are planned for the local market and they relate to T5, T6 and T8 Twin Engine. The T5 will feature a turbocharged 2.0 L inline four that offers 250 HP, the T6 will come with the same unit, but this time it will deliver 316 HP. The top offer, the T8 Twin Engine will bring the plug-in hybrid powertrain combining a supercharged and turbocharged 2.0 L inline four with an electric motor for a whopping 400 HP.

The company also decided to offer 2018 Volvo XC60 to the buyers with an advanced electronic driver assist features including a partial self-driving system. This feature allows a vehicle to accelerate, decelerate, and steer in road conditions with clear lane markings at speeds of up to 80 MPH. The Swedish carmaker will also offer a sporty R-Design trim which will come as an addition to the standard Momentum trim and upmarket Inscription trim. Volvo is also planning to utilize the N.Y. auto show to announce their updated S90 for 2018 MY, so the surprises will not lack from their side. The show is set to start on April 12, and if you are not able to visit it yourself, stay on our site for the posts about the most interesting pieces there.

My name is Miloš Kalajdžić and I come from Brčko DC in Bosnia. I was born on July 20 th 1988 and so far I obtained a BSc in economics and one year of working experience in my field of study. I am a very hard-working person who leaves nothing unfinished and halfway done. When I commit to something I give my best to make sure that everything is done the way as it is supposed to be. I like cars and everything that comes with them. My passion are American muscle cars, but unfortunately the closest I managed to come near one is behind my laptop watching an image of the new Chevy or Dodge and writing about it. But that’s ok I’m still optimistic. When I’m not behind the laptop writing I’m on the streets and auto shows admiring all stuff rolling on four wheels being propelled by a petrol engine!
