2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Will Reach the US shores

After the fuel mileage scandal last year Mitsubishi changed few things, and they are going in the right direction. Ever since Nissan has taken over the Japanese automaker things are looking better. The Eclipse Cross will be the first brand-new car produced by this company, and it already seems promising.

It is safe to say that the Eclipse Cross is the prettiest SUV produced by Mitsubishi. The back window of this model is aggressively raked, while there are also sharp lines, a sharply cut rear gate and a short overhang which gives the car a rigid stance.

Because of the Dynamic Shield design at the front, the new Eclipse Cross looks interesting and sporty, whereas the auxiliary lamps are inserted deep into the front fascia. The taillights are higher than expected and they divide the rear window like the ones on the Prius or the ninth-generation Civic hatch sold in Europe. This may not be practical, but it definitely looks good.

The photos of the interior are not available, but according to the carmaker, we should expect a dashboard with a lot of horizontal lines. The 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will sport a head-up display and a tablet-like infotainment system, while the cockpit design will be driver-oriented. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will, of course, be a part of the equipment, whereas the interface used to control the infotainment system is going to be the Touchpad Controller.

Under the hood, the Eclipse Cross will feature a 1.5-liter turbo I4 gasoline unit that will be mated to a CVT that simulates eight ratios available in manual override mode. This powertrain will produce 150 PS and 200 Nm of torque returning decent performances. The second option is the 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel unit that will deliver 150 PS and 360 Nm of torque and is combined with a new eight-speed automatic gearbox.

2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross release date

The 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will be revealed next week, while the sales in Europe will commence this fall. Japan, UK, and the US buyers will have to be patient a little bit more before the Eclipse Cross goes on sale.
