Next-generation Jeep Wrangler will be equipped with the 2.0-liter turbo-four ‘Hurricane’ engine that produces 300 hp. Nothing is unusual there, but the same engine may find its way to the 2018 Jeep Compass that has just seen the light of the day.

The new overhauled Compass draws a lot of attention because it is a blend of all other Jeep vehicles and that is why it is so specific. It took the Renegade platform, Cherokee interior and Grand Cherokee served as an inspiration for the exterior design. The only missing part is from the Wrangler, so why not insert its ‘Hurricane’ engine?

Jeep has not yet released powertrain option for the US market and the buyers will have to be patient. However, in South America, the two options are already familiar – 2.0-liter Tigershark and Multijet II turbo diesel.

According to some reports, the 2018 Jeep Compass will also be available with a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine besides 2.4-liter Tigershark unit which powers Renegade and Cherokee base trim.

Considering that you cannot find 2.0-liter turbo-four power plant in the Jeep’s lineup, the Wrangler’s unit would be a more logical solution. The 300 hp turbo-four is certainly a better option than 3.2-liter Pentastar V6 that produces 271 hp and which powers higher Cherokee trim.
